i was watching a world war II documentary the other day, and it came to my attention that not only was the german fashion designer Hugo Boss around at the time of the war, he actually designed the nazi uniform by request of Hitler. Hugo Boss was a loyal nazi, and a follower of national socialism, and used forced polish and french labourers in his factories. since then, the company have issued an apology, coinciding with the publication of a recent book based on the history of the company, claiming that Boss had joined the nazi party in order to save his company. it is also stated that boss housed most of his forced workers, and the conditions in which they were living in and were treated were very far below satisfactory or even liveable.

researching this, i also found that both Porsche vehicles and Volkswagen Beetles were specifically rquested and made for Hitler and the priveledged people of the nazi party.
studying fashion, i find snippets of history linked with fashion far more interesting than the mundane chatter about catwalk shows and high end samey designers. knowing the history behind something is far more interesting to read about.
