"i'm not sure i'm allowed to do this, but i can't help myself"
what better way to sway us all into thinking that she was giving us a 'sneaky preview' of these awful shoes than twitter- the number one way for celebs to secretly promote and make us all think they're doing us a favour. a couple of days cheryl cole posted a picture of some awful awful awful wedges she has obviously designed for stylistpick, with the quote- "i'm not sure i'm allowed to do this, but i can't help myself". obviously she is allowed, so thanks for doing us a favour and letting us into a sneak preview of this obviously on-trend and amazing shoe that is definitely worth the wait.

i haven't got anything against cheryl, as to be fair she hasn't entirely tried to be dead on trend and pretentious- she has stayed true to herself, by dressing to her style- not that we love it, but she obviously styles herself or has a big input into what she publically wears.

and i am a big fan of twitter, but can't help but think that it was definitely made to give the press more evidence into any false claims they make against these celebs, relating to what they tweeted.

snow survival guide
i braved the snow this weekend, and decided to take a life-threatening drive-#hardly- through the snow on saturday night to find myself dumping my car halfway and taking a taxi the rest- obviously stopping to grab a bottle of wine- i won't be driving anywhere anyway, so why not! parking up, having to walk to jump into my taxi, i realised i didn't have any socks with me to accompany my oh so stylishly snow ready attire- leggings, a leather jacket and some very well thought about ballet pumps. this resulted in me pulling my leggings over my toes, #home-made tights, with the leggings being pulled halfway down my bottom #gangsta. lesson of the day- always take socks with you. wherever you go. seriously. you will end up looking like you pooed yourself otherwise.
luckily, i made it there alive #bear grylls.

he turned his obsession into attention
notice anything different about this particular catwalk show?
its obvious that all the models are styled to look exactly like the late legend Amy Winehouse. created and designed by Jean Paul Gautier and paraded for his latest spring/summer collection, gautier claims that this line isn't created to be sold, but created to pay tribute to a great legend. not surprisingly, and without any confirmation from her father that the so called 'tribute' was ok to take place, Mitch Winehouse slams the collection, claiming the show to be 'distasteful'. i say it's 'not surprising' as personally, i reckon it is way too soon for something like this to happen, and it is clearly just for publicity for gautier and his collection (which is exactly what we are giving him). if the clothes aren't gonna be sold, then the collection is just for media attention and is a kind of ad campaign for the label. therefore, using someone as iconic as amy is gonna get him attention whether its good or bad. and as Mitch rightfully said, the show didn't even portray Amy in the iconic way that she should be remembered- instead the models stumbled down the catwalk, fag in hand and nipples out. whatever gautiers intention was in doing this show, hes obviously got the publicity that he wanted and probably needed, in a tacky and disrespectful way.
sunbeam results
heres what the topshop sunbeam higlighter looks like on-
i know its not totally obvious, but you don't want it to be. it gives an amazing shimmer when the light hits it.

highlight your best bits
just on a whim, and with the urge to buy something- but didn't know what- i picked up this higlighter from the make-up section of topshop. i don't usually buy make-up from retailers, i stick to what i know. however, with running out of my high-beam and being too lazy to order any, i took a risk.
and it paid off-
shade:sunbeam, it says on the website £9 but in the store it was £10 which is odd.
i think one of the most important parts of your make-up should be to add a bit of a shine to your cheekbones, it definitely makes all the difference and is something that all celebrities and models do. not that this will make you look instantly like you've just walked from the catwalk, but it's the closest we will get.
apply over bronzer and under blusher. it works really well with the MAC prism blusher i told you about in a recent post.

the constant longing to eat

hungry? if these pictures don't make you want to eat, you are not human. the constant battle against eating exactly what we want to eat is one of the hardest things in the world. why don't we have the will power to eat everything healthy when we know how fattening takeaways are? i ask myself this everyday. 'the diet starts tomorrow'. so why couldn't god make the tastiest food the healthiest? probably most of us don't each our five a day, but many of us don't even have the 2000 calories we are recommended to have a day either. i mean, 2000 calories is a lot- how are we meant to eat all these calories and this be recommended? i think people get confused as to what is healthy and what isn't. i have been brought up to know exactly what is good to eat and what isn't, which is quite a good thing to know as a 19 year old. a lot of young people think that a diet is- not having any breakfast, no lunch and salad for tea. i personally cannot pyhsically do this due to having very low blood sugar and having to eat every hour- i'm not even joking. i have a takeaway around once a week and to be honest, i eat a lot of crap. but with booking a holiday, i've been trying to get into the swing of things and get the perfect bikini bod. so heres a few things i've been following whilst on my healthy eating regime- whilst avoiding the dreaded gym! as a 19 year old i am not obessessed with weight, i just think it's good to be careful when deciding what to eat, as i want to stay how i am!
1) Fitness DVD-
i have recently bought the Jennifer Ellison fitness DVD after being inspired by all the weight losers on twitter. i'll let you know how it goes, but it is really fun, makes you feel great and you don't have to go all the way to the gym to exercise. £12.99
2) Fitnesspal app-
if you have an iphone this apps great. you can type in anything and it will tell you how many calories and grams of fat is in the product. you can also find brands on there which tells you exactly how much you're having, recording your weight to see if you have lost any, and adding up your daily calories telling you how much you have left. downside to this is when i have about 600 calories left at the end of the day, i go wild. not good.
3) Pitta Pizza-
ok, so i've not actually tried this yet. since being ill last week, i have had a constant craving for pizza and haven't got my fix yet. researching healthy ways to make pizza, i found that putting pizza topping on a wholemeal pitta with mozarella and tomato, and grilling is the easiest, quickest and healthiest way to eat one of your unhealthy sins without feeling guilty.

i know i am not overweight, but i know i do eat some crap. i think balancing out low fat foods with a small amount of foods of a higher calorie content is the best way to maintain a healthy eating regime- always have a day off eating healthy. this will definitely make it easier to do your diet with a treat to look forward to.
happy january!

dress down
i always find that when i go shopping i can never find the right top to wear or a perfect fit. i like to wear long sleeved, high neck and very fitted with usually a flared skirt, denim shorts or some worn-in jeans. however, i always find that the tops aren't the right shape and usually aren't very flattering. they're usually not fitted enough as the hem isn't long enough to pull the fabric down.so something i've started to do, which i have previously mentioned, is to buy these kind of bodycon dresses and wear them as tops. they are usually jersey fabrics which are easy to fold over when wearing jeans, and go easily under a skirt.
most of these are between £25-£40- topshop.

weekly update
what have you guys been up to this weekend? hope it was a good one! i enjoyed a night out at rosso on king street in manchester with all the girls from work on saturday night- great atmosphere and even better food.

#mum and dad!
i stupidly decided to wear my topshop heels that i bought a year ago to discover foolishly again that they actually cripple me. they are peep toe and patent which means your foot slides down to the bottom of the shoe and squashes your toes. something i found that really helped with this was to put a few cotton wool pads on the inside of your shoes, at the side of your big toe. great tip when you have a pair of gorgeous but painful heels- it will get you through the night as it did me!
i also went to the comedy club at the frog and bucket on oldham street in manchester on monday night. this is a place me and liam love to go for a cheap night and a few laughs (how cheesy of me). its £3 in and the night follows a structure of two pretty funny people doing about five minutes each, and then after a short interval its kind of like an open mic night- some good, some bad, but all funny in different ways. a bottle of wine is around £7, bottles of beer £2. you can also get food at your table, which a large bar menu serving burgers, pizzas, onion rings, fish and chips etc. a burger and chips is only £5 on a monday night too! the doors open around 7- i'd get there for about ten to to insure a good table, you don't wanna be standing up! but i definitely recommend it- pretend its the weekend.

i have been counting down the weeks till i can go on holiday with my wonderful family- eight weeks! its so hard to start buying holiday clothes and knowing what you will want to wear in the sun mid-way through january. however, i've invested in a couple of things that will do for both january and the summer. clever, hey?
both topshop-
the skirt has been great, i wore it to the comedy club with tights, my leather chelsea boots and a long sleeved skinny top. the skirts great worn both midi and shorter- very easy to roll up. (sounds cheap i know, but the longer length can sometimes make my legs look stumpy when wearing boots- and i'm 5,7!). i reckon it will look great in the summer, chilled with a tan and some sandals.
i'm not usually into midi dresses, i don't think they're too flattering however i like this one as its not too fussy , £34 and looks good with a tan skinny waist belt. i reckon this will look better when i dont have to wear tights with it, the longer length with black tights poking out the bottom makes me feel like a middle aged woman.
i bought some chelsea boots from topshop, but with them being real leather they were in the premium range. i figured they would last me foroever anyway, and with them having a funny little heel they could also border on middle aged woman, so stupidly i paid an extra £40 for the version with the studs on the back. i've wore them to death already though, hence why i can't take a picture of them as they're a bit dirty- i haven't got round to cleaning them yet, i'll stick a picture up soon.
i'll be sure to let you know what i get up to this week- whether you're interested or not, we all know everyone likes to be a bit nosey!

boohoo.com- dress for under £20
i've been so ill for the past few days, so i've literally been bedridden with nothing to do but to troll through websites. after the number of times i've seen the clothing website Boohoo advertised on TV i couldn't help but have a look through the website. i mean, thats what the adverts meant to do right? #easytarget
if you haven't already visited their website then i definitely advise you do. although there is a load of stuff on there that should be banned (i.e those stupid 'all saints' style boots- these should be banned) i found a few amazing dresses that could pass off as a lot more expensive than they actually are. one of my favourite things to do is outfit build- hence why i spent most of my childhood on stardoll.com. and most of my teenage life. yeah, i still go on it. #needtogrowup- i've put together a few, in my opinion amazing, outfits. i've picked out the best dresses, and teamed them with a pair of shoes. and the best bit about it is each dress is under twenty quid!
let me know what you think, hopefully i can change your mind about these 'cheaper' clothing websites instead of first base being topshop- where to be honest, the quality is just the same, you just end up paying double the price for something that doesn't last long. remember, just because it's from topshop doesn't mean it's the best, it probably came from the same factory as most of these dresses did-
outfit number 1-
;dress, shoes and collar from http://www.boohoo.com/
this pleated flare dress screams fifties dance and is perfect for a meal and a few proseccos. team with some mega heels and this on trend pearl beaded collar for extra impact. the shoes will add length to the look which is exactly what a fit and flare dress needs, with the beaded collar finishing the top of the dress off. with the fifties being the decade of spring summer 2012, i'd get this dress while you can ladies!

now bringing you swiftly into the sixties with this peterpan lace shift dress. the black suedette boots give a monochrome feel yet still giving a gilry vibe to the outfit. the outfit reminded me of something the young twiggy would wear, so i reckon the perfect thing to finish this outfit off would be some really heavy top lashes, teamed with some thinner bottom lashes to get the sixties vibe. have a look at earlier posts of mine in relation to bottom lashes and the easiest way to apply them.

now moving up a decade to the seventies, this is definitely my favourite outfit of the lot. i love the 70s inspired print and think the pastel blue looks great with these sweet red block heel peep toes. the most vintage look of them all, embrace your pale pins and finish the look off with a layer of MAC ruby woo.

go BOHO with this next outfit. the geometric print and scalloped neckline resemble festival chic. the dress looks great with tan shoes, and is the perfect look for a holiday stroll around the town. wear with this gold tribal choker for a effortless night look, and the tan sandals for a chilled-out day look.

the most fast fashion outfit out of them all, the monochrome shirt dress challenges the androgynous tuxedo look, with its edged collar and PU waistband, whilst giving a fifties vibe with the flared above the knee skirt. the dalmatian print chelsea boots add extra trend to the outfit, finishing off with the tweed fedora for a more masculine feel. for added effect, button the dress all the way up to the top button for a more edgy and challenging look.
