lana del rey

if you guys haven't already heard of this girl or watched the video, you are missing out. new york born, lana del rey is an american singer with obvious influences from the latter days. she has a great late fifties, sixties look with her plumped up lips, thick eyeliner and a whole load of old clips forming the music video to the song VIDEO GAMES.

i first saw the video on VH1, and with the channel showing old videos, i asked my mum had she seen this before, guessing it was from the seventies. i found out it was brand new. this is genius, i love it how such a new song can seem so old. i love the old vibe of the video, the earriness of the song and the juxtaposition of the glamorous hollywood.

i reckon this is what music needs lately, to take some tips from the past just like fashion does. the past ten decades trends can forever be seen in what we are wearing today, so why can't music do this? there is definitely a market for a good old fifties vibe singer, and some seventies videos, like lana del reys.

#heres the video;

three of a kind

most probably like you, i was a big fan of mary-kate and ashley. although i couldn't tell the two apart, i used to think they were the ideals of beauty and would have given anything to look like them. as i was trolling through the internet yesterday, i found a very close look alike-
elizabeth olsen, how gorgeous is she? turns out the olsen twins have a sister! who knew. shes five years younger than the twins, who are now twenty five- can you believe it, i thought they were about 20. i kinda wish she had done some kids tv and revived the young teen generation of today into more two a kind times and new york minute like films.

what happened to the days of sabrina the teenage witch, saved by the bell and two of a kind? i guess things change, people grow up, tv isn't gonna be the same again- #crycry.

this weeks buys-

 #bad memory- around £30

looks alright both tucked in and with waxed leggings and ballets. £20
crusifix bracelet- £5
all Topshop- be careful of the beading on the skirt, very weak stitching. if you have time, sew them on a bit more sturdy before wearing it. i wore it with the leopard print dress (as a top) i showed you a few postes earlier, and some thick opaques.

shoe hell

sorry i haven't been around this week, i have been so busy AGAIN with uni work- well the 'thought' of uni work. this week has consisted of visiting the lakes for a couple of days, a night out with the girls and bonfire night.

this week for me it has been all about shoes. i had a massive mare taking back the gold heeled topshop shoes. £70 and three hours later at the wedding, the gold chipped off both heels. there weren't any kurbs around for me to scrape them on and i certainly wasn't drunk at this point- which is what the lady at topshop seemed to think.

i told her the situation and she told me i couldn't get them changed or even repaired due to the chips not being a manufacturing fault. she tried to tell me it was my fault the shoes damaged after three hours, and i shouldn't expect them to be 'real gold' as they are only from topshop. very true, although do i really pay seventy pounds and expect to only wear them once? there wasn't a care label with the shoes, which i believe in this case their should be, warning me that the gold WILL chip after one wear. i clearly explained all this, and she suggested i fill in the chips with gold nail polish. just great. i'm not too clued up on statuatory rights, but surely i can't pay this much money and expect them to ruin after a few hours?

#the chips

i had my receipt with me, the shoes were in the box they came in, and still no offer to replace or repair. i have had it with topshop this week.

on the other hand, out with my friends the other night i fell in love with giorgias shoes- and i know you will too.

#bit of sock

these are the beauties, they looked amazing. she wore them with a snake print dipped hem dress and a leather jacket.

if i told you they were KG you'd probably believe me, but the best thing about them is they are from PRIMARK- and are £20. it doesn't get much better does it. doesn't this say something about how much we buy into a brands NAME and not the product? just because i bought the gold shoes from topshop, and paid a whopping seventy pounds for them, i thought they would be good quality. little did i know, they would ruin after one wear, and after a night on the town in giorgias, the feathers were still in tact and they were ready to be worn again.
